In 2020, we designed, engineered, and built the first working prototype of the Smart Medication Monitor. It mimicked a bathroom medicine cabinet in size and functionality. It required its software processor to run a medication monitoring application. In addition, it used an early design of the weight-sensitive micro pads to determine the difference in weight between one and two prescription medication pills. Finally, it required an integrated microphone, speakers, and display Monitor to operate. Our efforts made us realize that our prototype wasn’t suitable for the market. People like to keep their prescription medication in multiple locations throughout the home, including the kitchen and bathroom. This initial design could not accommodate how people interact with their pet’s medication.
We revamped the initial design the following year to accommodate next-generation Smart Medication Monitor hardware and software technology. We redesigned the monitor into a “tray-like shape” to ensure the device would work well in a bathroom, kitchen, or traveling. In addition, we eliminated the need for integrated processor hardware, bulky monitor, speakers, and microphone. Hence, this new design turned out to be sleeker, with a comparatively smaller footprint, lightweight, and mobile.
We also ensured that the latest design is water, dust, and shock resistant for better ability to take business trips and leisure travel.
The newest hardware prototype and software design are well underway. We look forward to getting early versions of the Smart Medication Monitor and Pet Care Health & Wellness app into the hands of our backers. Their feedback will be invaluable as we move into general production.
